Shock revelations from beyond the grave!
In a new and odd tale from the dead, a gay porn star has rather sensationally claimed that he had an affair with the star of the Superman films - Christopher Reeve.
This shocking new revelation comes in a new book called 'Hollywood Babylon Strikes Again' although when I say new, I really don't mean it's brand new, it's rather old - 23 years old to be exact, but it's only just now coming to public attention. It seems that gay porn star Cal Culver gave the details of a relationship with the Reeve in an interview done not long before his death in in 1987.
In the book it's claimed that Culver and Reeve met when they were both auditioning for a Broadway show during the mid 1970s. They soon hit it off and the affair was started. In the book, he wrote 'Christopher was a great lover and I think I liberated him sexually. I didn't think he was gay but he seemed willing to try anything once. He was curious.'
Apparently Culver said the Sumperman actor was 'the man of my dreams' and says they had a passionate two month affair!
Obviously this is a major surprise to me and I'm pretty sure to millions of others that grew up with Christopher Reeve being Superman, the archetypal heterosexual hero. The most powerful man in the world, there was no other, no comparison to any other super hero! I'm sure it will also come as a bit of a surprise to Reeve's wife Diana, to whom he was married for some 12 years. Of course Reeve died in 2004 of heart failure, almost completely a decade after he was paralysed from the shoulders down in a horse riding accident.
I have no idea if this latest revelation is true and as both men are now no longer living breathing entities on this earth, I guess we'll never know, not for sure. In my mind Reeves will always be remembered for his main role as the super hero with the red cape and the massive S on his chest. And hey let's face it, Superman would have made a really terrific gay guy, or Supergay if you will - I mean, a guy in a cape, who wears his underwear on the outside of blue tights - could you be any more butch?
