Jamaican lesbian can stay in UK, tribunal rules.

 

A victory for LGBT Immigration in the UK was achieved today,  when it was reported that A Jamaican lesbian has won the right to stay in the UK.   The immigration judges have ruled she risks persecution if she returns to her home country.    The lady who for her own safety can not be named lives in the Stoke-on-Trent area  had previously been refused leave to remain in the UK by the Home Office.

Immigration officials have called off the deportation of a Venezuelan man who legally married his same-sex partner in the United States, a move advocates hope will push the Obama administration to halt similar deportations and help repeal a federal law that recognizes only marriages between a man and a woman, the AP news agency is reporting.

A gay Tanzanian activist has had his asylum case rejected at the first hurdle because he's not been accepted as gay. His case has been determined as one which can be quickly decided and he's therefore been placed in the 'fast track' process and immediately detained.

UAFA-inclusive immigration bill introduced

In the US, a new bill regarding immigration, which includes provision for bi-national gay couples.

Representative  Mike Honda, Democrat  sponsors the Reuniting Families Act. 

A U.S. House member from California on Thursday introduced family immigration legislation that includes language allowing gay Americans to sponsor their foreign partners for residency in the United States.

Jerrold Nadler To Reintroduce Gay Immigration Rights Bill In US

 

The New York Congressman Jerrold Nadler will  reintroduce his Uniting American Families Act (UAFA) later this week.

The UAFA would allow gay Americans to sponsor an immigrant partner for citizenship. Currently, the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), the Clinton-era law that bans federal recognition of the marriages of gay and lesbian couples, blocks such a sponsorship.

US passports forms get more inclusive!

 

Riding high on the momentum of gay rights since the  "don't ask, don't tell," repeal,  one hears the USA State Department has taken on a new more inclusive language in US passports issued for the first time.   They have taken on a more non specific gender language,  which has been applauded by many in the fight for gay and equal rights.
