It’s hoped that up to 400 people will attend a rally today demanding that discrimination against gays is outlawed in the sunny island of Bermuda.
Krystl Assan, the organiser of the ‘Home is Where the Hatred Is’ event, has signed up almost 300 people to attend the rally, more than 100 others have listed themselves as possibly attending and dozens more have added messages of support to Ms Assan’s Facebook page.
Ms Assan said: “My hopes for the rally are simple — to encourage widespread acknowledgement of homophobia as a relevant social concern, and to encourage officials to implement legal protection from discrimination, reports local paper Bermuda Sun.
“There has been overwhelming support for the rally, and such a show of solidarity affirms that many Bermudians support equality based on common humanity.”
