German footballer Wants Gay Players To Come Out -

A top International goalkeeper wants gay football players to come out,   Maunel Neuer recently  stated that homosexual footballers should not be afraid to reveal their sexuality.

The handsome 24 year old goalkeeper,  who has put on shirts for both  Schalke and Germany, has revealed that if players were to come out it would relieve a lot of stress.

Neuer was speaking  with gossip and celebrity magazine Bunte,  saying, “Those who are homosexual should say so. That would take a load off their minds. And the fans would get over it quickly”

“What is important to them is the performances on the pitch of the player, not his sexual preferences.”

The soccer  star’s comments are a refreshing change in what is often seen as a very homophobic sport, with little regard to equality.

Remember the  English player Justin Fashanu,  who is perhaps still the most highest profile footballer, so far to have ever come out.

However, after discrimination at the hands of his Nottingham Forest manager Brian Clough and an unsuccessful stint at the club, Fashanu killed himself in 1998 at the age of 37.

There has recently been some speculation regarding the German national team, or rather the sexuality of some of their key players.  Not one has come out yet, but according to recent reports,  at least two members of the squad that played in the World Cup in South Africa are gay.
