Gay 'Cure' Stroud Gets Top Govt Job.
It's a clear demonstration that life under a Tory government is going to be far from a easy ride for lesbians and gays in the UK. Anyone who believed the political spin from the party leaders, that the Conservatives had changed, must surely now be thinking again.
The first nail in the coffin of Equality in the UK was the appointment of Theresa May, as the equality minister. Already over 50,000 people have called for her to resign, as more details of her homophobic voting record and beliefs become known.
Phillippa Stroud, the failed Tory candidate who helped set up churches which tried to "cure" gay people has now become a top Government advisor. Yes, in a surprise move, the new Work and Pensions Secretary, former Conservative leader, Iain Duncan Smith has taken on Stroud as one of his closest Whitehall advisers.
Mrs Stroud sparked a furious row amid claims earlier this month that she was involved in churches which, for a decade, attempted to cure homosexuals by praying to drive out their "demons". She issued a statement denying she believed homosexuality was an illness, but still believes that gay's can be 'cured'
There is also much speculation of when the announcement of the alleged Tory plan to scrap the equality bill will be made. However, such a move is expected by some political commentators by the end of the year.
