And it's set to get a whole lot gayer! Yep, Glee creator Ryan Murphy, chatting to E! news dropped secrets about the new series set to hit American screens 13th April and UK TV sets in September.
First of all music wise, those smiley boys and girls wont be doing any Coldplay or Bryan Adams numbers, as both refused permission for their tracks to be featured in the show. But Lady GaGa and Madonna have said yep, "We're doing an episode that's a tribute to theatricality," the creator explained. "We reached out to Lady GaGa and she said, 'Yes, I'd love to be a part of it'. So we will be doing Lady GaGa this season."
"I've worked with Madonna before," Ryan said, "I admire her greatly and I'm friends with her a little bit socially. I called her up and wrote her a letter and said we want to write up a tribute to you and she said yes and she co-operated in every way possible. We do ten songs altogether. Jane Lynch, who plays Sue Sylvester is going to do 'Vogue'."
Now, in other news of the show, it's top gay character, little Kurt, is gonna get a love interest. Yep Kurt is going to no longer be a singleton, swooning over Glee mates, he's gonna get a boyfriend in upcoming episodes of the show. Murphy explained that Kurt, who is played by Chris Colfer, is going to get together with a "fabulous" partner.
"I'm not interested in him being gay bashed, I'm interested in him being popular and confident and a role model." The show mastermind added that Kurt's new boyf isn't what you'd expect - "He's very different, but equally fabulous. I want them to be the power couple of the school."
Am I too old to be excited by this, just a little, but hey, in these days when there is so much doom and gloom in other news, isn't it great to have a little bit of escapism? Plus, they've hit on a winning formula with Glee, a youth programme, that, through the clever use of old songs, classic hits also appeals to the parents and the older generation.
Come on, scan the track listing of the two Glee albums and I defy you not to be at least humming some if not all of the assembled songs!
