A 22 year-old man has been jailed after launching a violent attack on a lesbian couple in Yorkshire.
Bradford Crown Court heard how Adrian Feather punched, kicked and stamped on Verona Benson and hit Tracey Williams while out in Keighley town centre, earlier this summer.
He was jailed for six and a half years, this week.
According to Bradford's Telegraph and Argus, Benson and Williams were attending a wedding reception on 9 July when Feather launched the assault.
The pair had briefly left the Cavendish Street hotel when the young father began shouting abuse at them. Moments later he punched Benson in the face, flooring her.
He then punched and kicked her repeatedly before stamping on her ankle, fracturing it twice.
Despite pleading for him to stop while bleeding from the nose and eye socket, Feather continued his attack. When Williams tried to intervene she was also punched in the face.
He then fled the scene, but was arrested the following day.
In a statement to the court, Benson said she had lost her independence, felt trapped in her home and cried every day.
In mitigation, Feather’s barrister, Giles Bridge, stressed his young age and said he had pleaded guilty before seeing the medical evidence in the case. He had a partner and child, accepted that he drank too much and was motivated to change.
After the case, Detective Constable Gareth Hamer, of Airedale and North Bradford CID, told the Telegraph and Argus: “We are very pleased with the sentence passed in this case.
“This was a mindless attack and should be a warning to other would-be criminals that if you commit serious crimes you will be put behind bars.”
