Brighton Pride Looks Set to Flop

One of the UK’s most popular gay pride celebrations looks set to be one of the biggest flops in its history.

This years Pride organisers sparked outrage when they announced it would be a pay to play event with a costly entry fee.   Now,  with little over one and half months to go before the event almost  45,000 tickets are yet to be sold.

According to insiders, they had expected to sell around 20,000 of the general release tickets by now, but it’s just a few more than a thousand.   We’re told that almost 8,000 of the first release or early bird tickets were purchased by Brighton residents, but the insider told us that is a bit of an over estimate,  the real figure is less than 6,000.

One thousand tickets have been given away to charities, local groups and the organising committees' friends, leaving the fast bulk unsold.

Nobody is sure just how many tickets will be sold at the gates,  as this is the first time in the events history that a cover or entry charge have been made.  The weather will have a massive impact on numbers coming.

Many local residents had planned to avoid going to the party at Preston park,  which whilst charging for entry was not offering any special entertainment, and stay around the gay area of St James Street.  There is usually a street party there,  however even these plans may well be halted.  It’s been announced that the pride organisation have taken over of that as well and are planning on charging a £9 entry fee,  according to the insider.

Many in the local community are crying SHAME  rather that Pride.
