‘Milk’ voted gay film of the decade

 

‘Milk’, the story of US gay rights hero Harvey Milk, has been voted the gay film of the decade, according to UK charity Stonewall’s poll of 800 supporters and workers.

The film, directed by Gus Van Sant and starring Sean Penn, was commended for its realistic portrayal of gay people.   Coming up second was  ‘The Kids Are Alright’. Starring Julianne Moore and Annette Bening, the film was commended for depicting a warm, loving family headed by a lesbian couple.   ‘Brokeback Mountain’ was in third place, while ‘A Single Man’ and ‘The Hours’ followed in fourth and fifth place.
