Hate Crime Charges For Trans Woman Attackers.

The two teenagers who viciously attacked a trans woman in a McDonald’s in Maryland have now been indicted on hate crime charges over an attack.

The attack on Chrissy Lee Polis, 22, was filmed by a store employee and posted on YouTube and other sharing sits  online.  It shocked the gay community and made headlines all around the globe.  Many people were not only shocked by the attack  but also by the lack of intervention and lack of car by the McDonald’s staff,  who shouted encouragement to the attackers and one also filmed the incident.

Teonna Brown, 18, was indicted today by a grand jury on first and second-degree assault. Both offences were classified as hate crimes.    The second attacker,  a 15 year old,  not being named for legal reasons was charged with the same crimes but because of her age at the time will be tried in a juvenile court.

In the footage of the attack, Ms Polis is seen being punched, kicked and dragged across the floor by two females. Repeatedly McDonald's employees are heard encouraging the attack,  only one steps in to try and halt the incident.

The McDonald’s employee who filmed the attack, Vernon Hackett, has now been fired. McDonald’s condemned the incident.  However, it’s since been learnt that Hackett has been re-employed by the McDonald’s owner.

Brown is no stranger to trouble,   she was charge with assault the year before after an incident at the very same McDonalds
