Declan Bennett is a British singer-songwriter who writes candid, hard-hitting, pop music. Possessing a witty and poetic way with words, unique take on life and unashamed and honest tales of life, love and sexuality, Declan has won a diverse and devoted fan base around the UK, across the US and beyond...

No is stranger to fame, with mainstream chart success by the age of 20 as part of pop/rock outfit Point Break, a lead role in the award-winning pop biography 'Taboo' at 21, and an extended trip to America to star as Roger on Broadway in the cult rock opera 'RENT'. He has to date brought out two solo albums on his own CovBoy label. Following the release of his second full-length album, 'An Innocent Evening of Drinking' in April 2008, Declan went on to open for Boy George on his UK tour, widening his ever expanding audience of listeners, and soon after was asked to return to the States, to join the original cast of Green Day’s 'American Idiot' on Broadway. Last summer he also starred alongside singer/songwriter Nellie McKay in his first feature film 'Downtown Express'.

Declan Bennett’s third album BREAKUP came out on 25 April 2011.

Declan Bennett’s BREAKUP' has been written over the the past two years. During this time Declan has been performing alongside Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong in Tony/Grammy award winning 'American Idiot' on Broadway and post-show, gigging across New York, trying out his new collection of new songs. Billie Joe unexpectedly turned up at one of Declan’s late-night gigs and was moved to step in to finance the recording of the album demo.

The finished version of the album was recorded in New York City with a band of his closest friends and produced by Declan himself. The new album tackles familiar themes of heartbreak and infidelity in a collection of 12 songs, designed to be heard in sequence, charting the journey through the final weeks of a relationship. 'record:BREAKUP' maintains the intimacy of his first two acoustically led records, while introducing a fuller, more electric feel. As well as the familiar, frank approach to songwriting there is an intriguing new move towards a bigger sound. The album charts a sequence of events, developing the dramatic themes of emotional struggle, from the opening prologue of 'Not Allowed' through the fighting temper of 'Easy' to the challenging contemplation of 'Freer', and the committed, universal pulse of 'Love Wins'.

'record:BREAKUP' is a story to be heard by all who have felt the urgency of love. The urgency of racing towards an impending ending. The urgency of change and of moving on. And finally realising that what you were looking for, you may have had in front of you all along.
