The Wanted's Max isn't gay!

UK pop group The Wanted are a bunch of prankers it’s emerged this week.  Plus they don’t care who they prank or hurt in the process.

Speaking at Scottish newspaper The Daily Record, offices yesterday, the group set the record straight after the boys in the band tweeted that Max was gay.

The heartthrob, who is dating Coronation Street's Michelle Keegan, was bombarded with messages from people quizzing him on his sexuality, reported the paper. The frenzy was sparked when the rest of the group hijacked his Twitter page to write: "I like boys. Can all the boys in the audience tonight shout I'm out and proud."

Max said: "There's no problem with being gay but I just want to set the record straight - I am into girls. Michelle will think it's funny."

Max, Tom, Siva, Jay, and Nathan should have learned their lesson by now.

Their UK tour almost didn't happen after Jay got carried away with phone jacking his choreographer's contacts.    Jay said: "I got the choreographer's phone and sent naughty messages to some of his celebrity contacts including Nicole Scherzinger and Heidi from Sugababes.

"He didn't like it so he quit. Our tour nearly didn't happen and we just scraped through by the skin of our teeth.

What’s wasn’t reported by the paper was that some of the messages sent included homophobic insults, slurs and incredibly hurtful remarks regarding the heath of the choreographer.

"We should have learned from that really."

“Everyone likes a joke,  especially on tour and being in the public spotlight like the Wanted are has it’s own difficulties, hardships and stresses,  that need to be overcome.  However,  to joke about someone’s sexuality in this way, clearly isn’t a very funny joke”   Said UK gay rights campaigner and writer Jason Shaw. “The Wanted are a popular group,  they have a certain position in youth culture and society, therefore they should set a good example,  jokes and high jinks are fine, just as long as they don’t hurt other people.   It would seem that the jokes the boys play are becoming more and more hurtful.  First homophobic texts, then fake coming out’s, locking a supposedly gay tour manager in the bathroom for nearly an hour would indicate the boys are getting out of control”
