Police in Cape Girardeau say gay couple may have been hate crime target

 

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — Cape Girardeau police are investigating a possible hate crime after an anti-gay slur was painted on the door and a wall outside the apartment of a gay couple.

The Southeast Missourian reports that the incident happened Monday night. The couple arrived home after 10 p.m. to find the damage. Also damaged was a window frame and one of their vehicles.
