Scottish Gay History trail to be created

A Scottish council are creating a gay and lesbian history trail celebrating sites of importance to the fight for equality in their area.

East Lothian Museums’ Service is asking residents for suggestions of spots to visit on the tour.

The trail – which will be launched later this year – will take users round points of historical and social interest related to LGBT history in East Lothian.

It is being developed as part of The LGBT History Month in February.

Other events include LGBT Futures – a talk from Simon Scadden who was the first British diplomat to live overseas with a same-sex partner.

Councillor Jacquie Bell said: “LGBT History month is an important way we can recognise the courage of LGBT people in fighting for their rights and for equal treatment.
