Yes those Canadian gay and lesbian students are welcome, in Ottawa Catholic high schools, I know this because a board official says so!
Right after a storm of controversy facing another Ontario Catholic school board erupted recently when they banned a specific type of student support group and continues to grow.
"A student who is openly gay in our schools, we want all of our students and staff to accept (them)," said Tom D'Amico, a superintendent for the Ottawa Catholic School Board. "We don't want to see them marginalized in any manner."
D'Amico, who oversees the equity and inclusive education committee, said the board wants to create a supportive and welcoming climate for students, staff and parents, and does not intend to use the Scripture to marginalize anyone. "These teachings, we don't want to use as condemnation for any of the students in the school," he said.
Questions about how welcome gay and lesbian students are at Catholic high schools across Ontario come after the Halton Catholic District School Board landed in hot water this week when it was revealed trustees voted last fall to ban gay-straight alliance clubs for students. The clubs are designed to create dialogue and safe spaces for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender students and their heterosexual allies. Media reports Tuesday night suggested the board may be lifting the ban until a new policy can be drafted.
It’s a story that’s getting international condemnation, mainly because of Canada’s more liberal and open stance on gay rights in general.

Oooh`~! Flying pigs!
But I shouldn't mock the afflicted when they actually threaten to come crashing and wailing into the C21st!
But will there be condoms as the Pope has said there should be for 'homosexual rent boys' who are the only homosexuals I've so far heard him support.
I'm getting very confused about all this liberal talk!
