No Wedding For Homer And Marge!

It was a real case of D'oh last week for a gay Welsh couple that wanted massive models of Marge and Homer Simpson at their wedding.

The register office where the civil partnership ceremony was due to take place informed Glyn Stott and his partner Roy Culliford that the big cartoon couple Homer and Marge couldn't play a part in the service because they were not  "solemn and dignified" enough, reported UK tabloid paper The Mirror.

However,  Glyn  and Roy, both in their 30's  walked in to the service to the sounds of the Simpsons theme tune and later they tucked in to their Simpsons wedding cake!

Apparently Glyn is a bit os a Simpsons fanatic, and so far has spent about £100,000 on turning his home in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales, into a shrine to the show.  He told the paper last week "It was a real shame. I really wanted Homer and Marge by my side. We still Simpsoned it up by having the wedding cake and the theme song. The register office staff said they had services on before and after ours so we couldn't fit the models in. They are very, very large.  Marge stands over 7ft tall and Homer is over 5ft and they're both very heavy."

A Cardiff city council spokeswoman said: "Guidance from the Registrar General states that the Registrar should always insist upon the seemly behaviour of the parties and their witnesses. All ceremonies - marriages and civil partnerships - should therefore be solemn and dignified"
