The ever so lovely and utterly fruity actor John Barrowman is all set to host a top Broadway charity gala West End Bares - Strip Britannia in London. The long running burlesque type event over Stateside is crossing the Atlantic to London for two shows in September and will benefit TheatreMAD and the Make A Difference Trust.
John Barrowman, who is probably best known since his appearances in Doctor Who and Torchwood, and more recently Desperate Housewives, is a patron of the Make A Difference Trust, which raises funds for people with HIV and AIDS. "I'm thrilled to be hosting West End Bares. What a way to make a difference – being a little naughty on stage for a wonderful cause." he said.
JB's is a very funny and talented man, a true Broadway and West End stage actor, a true pro, he's had many parts, or perhaps that should be, he's played, many parts. He's had many albums out, his latest rose pretty high in the charts and is known to have one of the loudest laughs in showbiz! It's also sickening how he doesn't seem to be aging at all, I mean I used to have wet dreams about this guy when I was in short pants and he was presenting some kids TV show on Saturday mornings - Going Live I think it was. I had a major crush on him back in those days, and now, I see those blue eyes, that cheeky yet sexy smile and hear that voice and I'm a kid all over again. If he wasn't already married I'd be falling to my knees before him! Make of that what you will!!
I so think he'd be great in the show Glee, after all he is the real life adult example of what that show is all about! "I have no idea if I'll be in it, I met with their casting people and I said I'd love to be in it – I'd be good as one of Rachel's gay dads!" he said recently. "The ball's in their court, though," he added and I for one hope they take him up on the offer.
West End Bares: Strip Britannia is going to on September 5th at Cafe de Paris, Coventry Street, with two shows, one at 9.30pm and the other at midnight. Tickets are £30 + and can be booked on 0207 734 5683
