Gay Business Conference Planned

How can ‘mainstream’ and ‘gay’ businesses and organisations do better business  with consumers who identify as gay or bisexual?

That's just one of the questions that will be posed and answered at a gathering of some of the top business brains when The Gay Business Conference hits London town next month.

The special conference featuring talks  from  Matthew Todd,  editor of UK gay mag Attitude, Kim Watson from Millivres Prowler Group,  Neil Spring, Co-founder, Village Drinks and a few others.

Research by Out Now Consulting suggests that homosexual men and women in the UK  earned upwards of £81bn in 2007. Gay and bisexual consumers appear to have a much  higher disposable income and spend more on new products, leisure and entertainment than  their heterosexual counterparts. A separate survey by OMD Insight found that 40% of gay   people surveyed invested heavily in new technology, compared with 25% of heterosexuals,  and that gay consumers took an average of four flights a year compared to the straight

person's three.

Gay Business Conference Director Matthew D’Arcy is clear about the potential for businesses and organisations targeting gay and bisexual consumers: “Millions of Gay and bisexual consumers in the UK and Europe, with combined income in the £ billions, and worldwide with combined income in the £ trillions, represent a significant but underexploited market for businesses and organisations of all sizes. Successfully targeting goods and  services with suitable sales and marketing activity and appropriate customer service can
mean significant additional revenue and the opportunity for businesses to trade their way out of recession.”

It's hoped that The Gay Business Conference,  which takes place on Tuesday 29 June in  Westminster, London  will  provide businesses and organisations with invaluable  insights, ideas and networking opportunities to help them expand their sales and increase their profits over the next year and beyond.

“The Gay Business Conference, is a unique opportunity for businesses and organisations of all sizes to hear from an excellent group of Guest Speakers willing to share their pearls of wisdom” says Matthew. “It is also a great chance for those attending to network throughout the Conference,  We are delighted with the number of impressive Guest Speakers who will be presenting at conference, including  Juan P. Juliá, President, Axel Hotels,  Ian Johnson, founder, Out Now Consulting,  Matthew Todd, of  Attitude Magazine, Andrew Roberts, Chief Executive, AMRO Worldwide,  and others.

Matthew D'Arcy, himself will also be presenting at the June event as he is director of OMTAC and also director of  GMen Brighton.

Anything that affords hope and recovery from this global recession has got to be a positive move,  especially to badly affected gay businesses.
