Brighton Pride - No Seafront Play Den!
The bosses of Brighton Pride have promised this year's event will not let people down despite plans for a massive seafront after 'Pride' party falling through.
According to local newspaper The Argus, the commitment came as the organisation finalised plans for the annual celebration of the city's LGBT community that will take place in the first week in August.
Judith Manson, Pride's fundraising and communications manager, spoke out after proposals for a post-Pride event for up to 20,000 people in Madeira Drive, Brighton, were blocked by council officers.
They involved a commercial dance event on the seafront on the Saturday evening, from 4pm until midnight, with further activities on the Sunday.
But Brighton and Hove City Council rejected the idea. Ms Manson said it would not affect the running of the main Pride events.
The theme for this year s parade on August 7 is Pride and (No) Prejudice. Brighton Pride, is still the UK's largest and one of the top European free gay pride events!
Last year rain dampened spirits and numbers with roughly only 50,000 attending the fun in Preston Park, in the north of the seaside city.
