UK Gay Celebs Videos - what life could have been like for some UK gay celebs.

 

In a rather unusual, illustrative  and informative way,  The Albert Kennedy Trust have made a series of videos with gay celebrities to highlight what life could have been like for them,  had they been homeless.

 

The charity has picked some of the UK’s top ranking gay stars including Sir Ian McKellen and Paul O’Grady to highlight their campaign AKT Now.

Big Lottery Fund award £479,263 to Birmingham's gay community -

 

The Big Lottery Fund has awarded Birmingham's gay and lesbian community a grant of £479,263 to establish an LGBT Health and Wellbeing Centre in the city, reported the UK’s Pink Paper.

In a campaign against homophobia in education, Stonewall has enlisted the actor Sir Ian McKellen to do a nationwide tour of schools

Gay community invited to march against cuts in the UK

 

One of the UK’s largest trade unions, the TUC is inviting all gay and lesbian people to join with them for a march on the government in protest to the shockingly deep cuts imposed by the hated coalition.

Albert Kennedy Trust Awards

 

Homeless charity Albert Kennedy Trust held an awards ceremony in the heart of London's Canary Wharf, last week – celebrating their star carers and supporters.

Held in conjunction with Credit Suisse, who are financial sponsors of the charity, it drew over 100 members of the lesbian and gay community.

Young service users, carers and professional contributors were all recognised for their contributions to the charity, which helps thousands of people every year.

As part of the evening, the parents of the late Kristian Digby – a former ambassador of the organisation – presented the first-ever accolade in his name.

"Kristian wouldn't have missed this for the world," said his mother. "He was very passionate about the Albert Kennedy Trust and would be proud of this new accolade in his name."

Barnado’s boss wants gay couples to adopt in UK

 

The chief of adoption charity Barnado’s is encouraging more gay couples to give a home to children in care.   New chief executive Anne Marie Carrie was speaking after a survey by the charity found that a third of the public think that gay couples are inferior parents.

Stars of London's West End support Stonewall's It Get's Better campaign In UK

 

The biggest names from London’s theatre community have recorded a moving video for Stonewall’s It Gets Better – Today campaign. Reports the UK’s Pink Paper.

The initiative reassures young lesbian, gay and bisexual people experiencing homophobic bullying that they don’t have to wait for things to get better - their lives can be great today.

The new messages come from a host of leading actors, directors and personalities – including National Theatre Director Nick Hytner, Martin Sherman (author of Bent), Chris New (star of Prick Up Your Ears), Kerry Ellis (played Nancy in Oliver! and Elphaba in Wicked), and choreographer Stephen Mear – plus many more.

In the video, Nick Hytner candidly recalls: "I remember a young gay acquaintance of my parents being killed in a car crash when I was a teenager and them saying they thought it was probably for the best that he was dead because he was going to have such an unhappy life.

"My parents are completely different now. Most of their best friends are gay. Everybody grows. As for my personal life – it’s pretty good. It’s not perfect - I don’t know anybody’s who is – but its imperfections have absolutely nothing to do with my sexual orientation."

The West End personalities join other celebrities and MPs who have added their support to the campaign, including Prime Minister David Cameron, Gareth Thomas, Sue Perkins, Clare Balding, Katy Perry, Christina Aguilera, Joe McElderry, John Partridge, Antony Cotton, Danny Miller, Sarah Waters, Theresa May MP and Diane Abbott MP.

"STR8 Against H8" 2011 Charity Calendar

 

A group whose  ‘In your face’ attitude and language  offends many both in and out of the gay community,  the group that famously trashed the whole ‘It gets better’ video collection for The Trevor Project as fucking shit.  The group that used a 4 year old baby shouting obscenities in one of their videos is back to shout in your face again.  Yep, the   FUCKH8 group launched their bold new 2011 charity calendar.

Reinforcing the negative stereotype that us gay folk just cant keep our hands of those straight boys, to the absolute max, they’ve come up with ‘STR8 AGAINST HATE’ calendar!       They’ve pulled out the stops and hired a bunch of straight models (and pulled one of the street)  stripped them,  sprayed them with a ton of oil and photographed them.

Dudes take it off so the homos can get their rights on! is how they see it, and say it in the behind the scenes video which was too explicit to be shown on YouTube without being edited.   The charity group which raises funds for the US fight for equal marriage and ‘queer’ youth counselling and suicide prevention.   The small but cute calendar is just $3,   $2 of which goes to the charity fund.

 

The stereotypes don't stop there,  all the guys are muscle bound hunks,  fine specimens of beefcake, because Luke ‘the fag’ behind it,  likes ‘em like that.  It’s hardly representative of the whole community,  but having said that,  they are rather nice eye candy,  it’s reminiscent of a colour version of the muscle pictorial magazines of the 50’s and 60’s!
