Gay community invited to march against cuts in the UK

One of the UK’s largest trade unions, the TUC is inviting all gay and lesbian people to join with them for a march on the government in protest to the shockingly deep cuts imposed by the hated coalition.

Trade Union Congress General Secretary, Brendan Barber, said:

“The government’s cuts to public services are having a devastating impact all around the UK, and LGBT community groups and services are being hit hard.   Support for LGBT people is being cut when specialist services have never been more important – homophobic bullying is rampant in schools, and hate crime in the street is becoming more prevalent”

“Reductions in health service spending may limit provision for HIV treatment, and delay gender reassignment for trans people”

“Please join us on Saturday 26 March to march for an alternative. We want to give a national voice to all those affected by the cuts, and let the government know that deep cuts are not the way to solve our problems, and will almost certainly make them worse”

“We want a fairer tax system that spreads the burden more fairly and policies that create jobs and boost economic growth. That’s the only long term way to close the deficit and reduce the nation’s debt.”
