It was a story the crossed the Atlantic and seemed like a spoof of one of those cheap bookstore spy stories, a real James Bond twist. The body in the bag of top flight code breaking spy Gareth Williams.
There has been so much speculated about this super code breaker, including his fondness for S&M sex, his visits to local gay bars, memberships of gay dating services, profile on gay meeting apps, and other such things. Most of which have been outright lies, or perhaps at best fabrications on half truths and possible placements. It’s still a mystery as to the actual circumstances of his death.
However, according to friends, Gareth wasn’t playing for the gay team, he was batting for the other side. Straight as they come, they say. But regardless of his sexual desires, the fact that remains, a man lost his life here! Somewhere a family has lost a much loved and valued member.
