City of Palm Springs Kicking Off White Party Weekend !

More than 20,000 gay men are expected in Palm Springs this weekend for the 22nd Annual White Party.

Over the last 22 years, the White Party has grown to become one of the largest and most widely recognized events worldwide.

Thursday, a special proclamation ceremony will be held at the Renaissance, 888 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way. The ceremony kicks off at 1 p.m. and will be hosted by city councilmember Rick Hutcheson.

The Renaissance is the headquarters for the weekend of events which features live music and DJs, cool pool parties and much more.

On Friday, April 8 at 6 p.m., the Mayor and City Council will be on hand to kick off the White Party celebrations at the 6th annual "Meet the Museum" party at the Palm Springs Art Museum.

However,  there is much speculation that this could be the last White Party held at the desert resort amid moved and speculation of the local city council halting celebrations in moved to become a little ‘less gay’

“We’ve had enough of their kind here”  The city mayor told Christian church goers last weekend.   This comes off the back of recent homophobic and discrimination from the local Police department.    Who, it’s been reported by local media have set up a special ‘undercover’ task force this year to target any gay man that gets a little ‘too frisky’
