Two men were arrested earlier this month for having sex in a London gym, the UK’s PinkNews.co.uk reported.
It’s understood the two males were in the sauna at the Virgin Active gym in Barbican, and were arrested on suspicion of outraging public decency after staff called police. It should be noted that is not an exclusive gay gym or club, but a mixed venue open to members of all sexes and sexualities.
They were released from custody later the same day with no further action against them planned. City Police confirmed that the pair had been arrested, according to Pink News and said gyms in the area were being encouraged to enforce behaviour rules themselves.
This gym is popular with gay men working in the banking and IT industry and apparently has been dealing with the issue of men having sex in the saunas for some time, having had many complaints from other members.
“Virgin Active are all inclusive and do not discriminate against staff, members or non-members according to gender, race or sexuality” advised the company spokesperson The clubs have a responsibility to report any suspicion of illegal activity such as serious consensual activity or outraging public decency to the police. Any suspected cases of such activity occurring in clubs would always be dealt with sensitively and seriously.”
No details of the two have been given by the police, however one is thought to be a popular on the internet with a blog detailing is sexual exploits and adventures.
