Rainbow flag flies over Dumbarton

The united colours of gay identity and pride,  the infamous rainbow flag was hoisted high  above West Dunbartonshire Council offices last week for the fourth year in a row.

The flying of the flag is to commemorate Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered (LGBT) History Month.  The council is making the gesture to highlight its commitment to creating an inclusive and equal environment for people living and working in the area.

Provost Denis Agnew raised the flag at offices in Garshake, Dumbarton, and Rosebery Place, Clydebank.

He said: “This is an appropriate, fitting tribute and the council is happy to support this event.

“The rainbow flag signifies pride and inclusivity and we must continue to recognise and embrace differences while ensuring everyone is treated fairly and equally.”
