Gay men targeted via dating site.

Police in Halifax, Canada  are warning people — particularly gay men — to be careful using online dating sites following two recent robberies that officers are linking to one of the social forums.
Const. Brian Palmeter said in both cases men picked up someone they met online and were later robbed when they went to another location together.
In the first incident, a 35-year-old man picked up a man he had met through the dating site, www.Plentyoffish.com.
Palmeter said the men drove to a parking lot in Point Pleasant Park on Sunday and were surrounded by two others, who threatened the victim and demanded money.
The officer said the victim handed over the money and was not hurt.
“We want to make the warning known, in this case, to gay men but really to any citizen who’s using an online dating service or arranging to meet somebody through an online service,” he said.
“Because the target group could change once this warning goes out.”
They’re urging people who use dating websites to meet people in public places and let friends know where they’re going, with whom and when they expect to return.
