Taking stock at the longlist stage of the inaugural award, there's much to celebrate but no room for complacency, reports The Guardian on the UK’s Polari literary groups new awards.

 

Rhode Island - The Fight For Gay Marriage Goes On!

 

So, civil unions are now legal in Rhode Island, but  that doesn’t mean people are happy about it.   Either side of the gay marriage debate there are unhappy faces, sad souls and the battle goes on.  Gay groups and campaigners are  holding out for full marriage rights for gay couples and will continue the fight as long as it takes.

An Oxnard, Calif., student carefully planned and carried out the execution of a 15-year-old gay classmate because of his on-going feud with the victim and his white supremacist belief that homosexuality is an abomination, a Ventura County prosecutor said Tuesday, came the report from The Star.

Australian Parliament To Hear Gay Marriage Views–But Only For 5 Minutes.

 

Parliament in Australia has agreed to set aside some  time next month for MPs to speak out on the issue of gay marriage, a loud cheer may come from the gay community,  but it is a very short one,  much like the debate -   just five minutes.

The influential campaigner was found dead at her Palm Springs home by her partner, Denise Penn.   Despite suffering from ill health, an autopsy has been ordered to formally determine the exact cause of death.

British Muslims Proud of Gay Rights

 

British Muslims are more likely to be proud of gay rights than secular Britons,  so says a new poll released last week.     This new  research was conducted by the  YouGov research company for a forthcoming Demos essay collection on Conservative attitudes to race and ethnicity in modern Britain.

 

India’s health minister calls homosexuality a ‘western disease’

 

There is outrage and condemnation over India’s health minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad, who has been referring to homosexuality as an unnatural “disease” from the west.

Will Young On Tour

 

Will Young,  the openly gay pop star who came out publically in 2002 is going back on the road in a UK tour.

 
The award winning singer songwriter and actor is all set to play a 23 date tour later in 2011.

It’s starts off on 27 October at the Swindon Oasis and closes in Cardiff’s St. David’s Hall on November 26th.  Ticket presales are on right now and demand is expected to be high.

Billy Elliot Writer Lee Hall Forced To Cancel Show Over Homophobia.

Some of the cast of Billy Elliot the Musical In Lee's Billy Elliot the Musical, Billy's friend comes to terms with his homosexuality.

 

Yet now,  in a shocking case of homophobia, an opera involving primary school pupils has had to be cancelled,  after Mr Hall  refused to remove two small references to a gay character's sexuality.

Trial Starts Today In The Larry King Murder Case.

 

Today see’s the start of the trial in the Larry King murder case.  It was a crime that shocked the nation and the world, when 15 year old Larry King,  an openly gay student was shot twice in the head at close range by a fellow student.
